Over the past couple of English sessions, the Upper School children have been preparing a descriptive narrative through reading, role play and exploring vocabulary.
We read a chapter of Street Child and chose scenes to turn into freeze frames (see the gallery). When the freeze frames were ‘woken up’ the characters spoke about their feelings and gave their thoughts for that moment.
We then used these images and words to create a thought bubble for the main character, Jim. There was lots of exploring the language of the novel and use of thesauruses to write lists of useful adjectives so that what the children came up with was extremely emotional to read! I have added a couple of these pieces of writing to our gallery too. Well done particularly to Lilly and Abigail.
