Today we started a new art project learning how to create 3D paper sculptures as we work towards a bigger project. To begin with they had some skills to achieve to be able to say …

  • I can roll paper to make a cylinder.
  • I can combine paper cylinders to make a sculpture.
  • I can adapt my ideas as I work.

The children had to think about:

  • The length of each tube.
  • The colours they use and which colours will go next to each other.
  • How they arrange the tubes on the base.
  • How they will attach tubes to the flat base.
  • Cutting bits off the paper to make a more interesting tube shape.

The children then explored rolling paper tubes to make a sculpture. They had a lot of fun and had to work through challenges adapting their ideas as they went. Take a look at these photos to see how well they did …
